Vanoise High Route

Roadbook

Starting at the foot of the Dent Parrachée (3695m), this Haute Route follows a logical itinerary on the eastern slopes of the Vanoise chain, linking some of the largest glaciers in the Northern Alps, and taking you to some of the region’s mythical peaks. It’s quite unique to find yourself on the Glaciers de la Vanoise, an ice cap that is a vestige of the last Ice Age.

Completely wild in the heart of the National Park, the relative difficulty of access is a guarantee of tranquillity, and it’s fair to say that there isn’t much competition to make the first tracks on this Haute Route.

During this week away from the crowds, we invite you on a peasant’s journey, in search of the best snow and without ever coming back down to the valley !

Day 1 – Meet in Aussois at 9am. We use the morning to review your equipment and make sure nothing is missing from your rucksack. For this first warm-up day, we take the chairlift, and from the top of the lifts we put on the pots phoque to climb the Grand Châtelard. We ski a little and then climb back up to the Refuge de la Dent Parrachée (2515m).

Day 5 – We climb up the Rocheure valley to the pointe de méan Martin (3330 m), then descend to the Refuge du Fond des Fours (2532 m).

Day 6 – Col des Fours (2976 m), long descent to Bonneval-sur-Arc (1800 m), where a cab will take us back to our starting point.

This long traverse will take us from hut to hut, where the welcome and comfort will allow us to recharge our batteries and rest on this beautiful journey.
