The Maurienne offers a vast playground, from small cliffs and boulders to big walls.

But it’s also possible to go further afield, in France or elsewhere – there’s no shortage of rock !

Roadbook

Rock climbing :
Full day, half-day or over a few days, you can discover the key elements of rock climbing;

Safety : how to use climbing equipment, learn knots and belay techniques.

Rope handling : climbing is a team sport, and it’s all about knowing how to look after your climbing companion, and acquiring the knowledge and skills to be autonomous in the main rope handling techniques.

Movement and technique : how to enjoy yourself and be efficient in different climbing situations, and how to position yourself to optimize your movements and save as much energy as possible.

Multi pitch climbing :
Once you’ve mastered the basic techniques and manoeuvres, why not go even higher, past the first belay ?
Multi-pitch climbing enables you to climb cliffs several hundred meters high. The aim is to pass the first belay point and continue the ascent roped up, climbing to the top of the cliff, then abseiling back down. With it’s many stunning routes, the Haute Maurienne is an ideal playground for learning multi-pitch climbing.

Some examples : Monolithe de sollière, Garden Partie at Bonneval sur Arc, Arête de la tour, l’éperon des éperviers at Marie Christine ….

If you’d like to take your climbing further, we can also offer introductory rock-climbing courses that include gear placement, or multi-pitch routes in adventurous terrain…

“Parcours Alpin” :

A fun way for kids to experience rock climbing and the excitement of being up high, on a route through hidden rocks, cliffs and hidden cracks.

This fun route takes them over all kinds of obstacles –  footbridges, zip lines, ladders, abseiling… and helps them to pick up climbing skills through a variety of fun challenges.

For those that are still afraid of heights, but want to challenge themselves and see the view from a little higher up, this is the activity for them. The Alpine course is a fun and easy introduction to climbing.

Our playground :

“Rocher Saint Claude” in Sollières, is a small training cliff packed with nooks, crannies and obstacles of varying heights. It’s the ideal place to get a fun introduction to climbing and to get some height to enjoy the views from a new perspective.
